I come from a small city in the southeast of Belarus. After having lived in the UK, Cyprus, and Brazil, I’ve settled down in the capital of Germany with my husband Dzmitry and our two cats — a Ukrainian refugee Shura and a German scavenger Tzatziki.
I’m passionate about lifelong learning, reading, and collecting memories. I dream of writing a chick lit bestseller in Belarusian, developing a language course titled “Grammar is Overrated,” and brewing beer that would let you switch between languages effortlessly :)
I believe that happiness is a choice, including “linguistic happiness.” If you’re struggling to learn a foreign language, it means you just haven’t found your way yet.
It may surprise some of you, but I’ll confess... I never wanted to become a teacher. I entered Minsk State Linguistic University because I was genuinely interested in studying foreign languages.
However, I didn’t realise at the time that learning languages isn’t a profession. You can imagine my disappointment when that realisation dawned on me. I’ve tried various jobs since graduating, from a laundry manager (the only job that allowed me to read at work) to a technical writer (the most boring job in my life) to a journalist (the most useless job in my life) — before realising that supporting people on their language learning journey is my calling.
I began to truly enjoy what I do after completing multiple courses related to education, coaching, and intercultural communication, but mostly after meeting so many brilliant, interesting, and enthusiastic people along the way. Finally, I can finally say that I know what I am doing.
